Acentech collaborated with Baker Design Group to provide acoustical design for TripAdvisor’s new 282,000-square-foot global headquarters in Needham, Massachusetts. Their work focused on a four-story atrium designed to accommodate 1,100 employees for company meetings as well as smaller groups for dining, casual meetings and amplified and recorded presentations. The mixed-use atrium required extensive acoustical analysis and computer modeling of different finishes for reverberation control, window treatments to isolate highway sounds and background noise levels before the space was built out. Acentech’s modeling also addressed speech privacy within open offices, speech intelligibility in teleconference rooms and mechanical systems noise control.
